Talent Co-Op engineers provided coaching and mentoring support at PyCon Africa 2024, held from September 24th to 28th in Accra, Ghana, the Django Girls workshop was one of the standout events. This initiative, aimed at encouraging women to dive into the world of coding through hands-on learning with Python and Django, was made even more impactful thanks to our partnership with PyCon Africa.

The workshop was conducted over two days. On the first day, participants were introduced to the basics of Python programming, helping them grasp the foundational coding concepts. The second day focused on building web applications using Django, where participants applied their newfound coding skills to create real-world projects.

Talent Co-Op engineers provided coaching and mentoring support throughout the workshop. Our team of dedicated developers guided the attendees, empowering many to write their first lines of code and build their websites. For many participants, this was not just an introduction to Django but a gateway into the broader world of tech.

Beyond technical skills, Talent Co-Op fostered an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Many participants, attending a tech workshop for the first time, received personalized guidance, boosting their confidence and encouraging them to explore careers in technology.

The collaboration between Talent Co-Op and PyCon Africa underscores the spirit of community that defines the Python ecosystem. This workshop wasn’t just about learning code; it was about building connections with the mentees, making them gain confidence, and seeing the possibilities that technology holds for women across Africa.
